RRB ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) Job Profile and Salary and Promotion Details

RRB ALP Assistant Loco Pilot: Railway Recruitment Board has recently released the notification for recruiting RRB Assistant Loco Pilots and Technician. You can apply online from 03rd February 2018 if interested. ALP was previously recognized as Assistant Driver by the Railway Recruitment Board. JOB Profile of RRB ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot)

Assist the Loco Driver in fine-tuning the locomotive.
Calling out Signal once Sighted
Attending to Minor Repairs of the Locomotive
Regularly checking the Efficiency of the Locomotive
Job requires continuous attention and high degree of responsiveness

The strenuous nature of the job is compensated by allowances, e.g. Running Allowance. ALP are paid Running Allowance based on the monthly kilometers on the run.

Promotional Aspects of RRB ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot):

After the post of Assistant Loco Pilot, one can be promoted to Senior Assistant Loco Pilot and then Loco Pilot. After this level, you have the choice to become either a Power Controller or a Crew Controller or a Loco Foremen. (These posts have the added advantage of getting Running Allowance without actually running.)

Qualification of ALP (Electrical or Mechanical):

A) Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from recognised institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the trades of Armature and Coil Winder / Electrician / Electronics Mechanic / Fitter / Heat Engine / Instrument Mechanic / Machinist / Mechanic Diesel / Mechanic Motor Vehicle / Millwright Maintenance Mechanic / Mechanic Radio & TV / Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Mechanic / Tractor Mechanic / Turner / Wireman

(OR)

Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the trades mentioned above

(OR)

B) 3 years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering (OR) Combination of various streams of these Engineering disciplines from a recognised Institution in lieu of ITI.

Note: Degree in the Engineering disciplines as above will also be acceptable in lieu of Diploma in Engineering.

VACANCY: 17673 (through RRB CEN 01/2018)

RRB ALP Salary and Allowances:

Level 02 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix with initial pay of Rs. 19900/- plus other allowances as admissible.

Equivalent to Grade pay of Rs. 1900 in 6cpc pay scale 5200-20200.

Gross Salary will be Approx. 28k-29k per month apart from Running Allowance.

DA on Total Pay
Running Allowance (based on the kms traveled)
Transport Allowance
House Rent Allowance (if not provided with quarter)
Deductions from salary include 10% of total Pay towards New Pension scheme
Other Allowances depend on various conditions and hence cant be stated uniformly.
