D.O. Letter for GST Implementation with post wise allocation (13.05.2017)
HIGHLIGHTS:
1) Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) will shortly be renamed as the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). It will be be headed by a Chairmen and 6 members and supervise all the work of all GST and Customs field formations and Directorates.
2) GST and Customs Field Formations: There shall be 21 GST Zones, 102 GST Tax payers Service Commissionerates (Comprising of 14 Sub-Commissionerates, 768 Divisions and 3969 Ranges), 49 GST Audit Commissionerates, 50 GST Appeals Commissionerates under CBIC. Existing 11 Customs Zones, 60 Commissionerates will continue as such and shall function under CBIC.
3) Two New Directorates are being Created. These are Director General of Analytics & Risk Management and Directorate of International Customs.
4) Staff reallocation: Consequent to the re-approval of Reorganization plan, existing sanctioned staff strength has to be redistributed among the field formations. It is to be mentioned that in GST Regime, No new post in any group A, B, and C is being created. Reallocation of staff will be done only for Central Excise and Service Tax formations and not in Customs.
